Farmhouse Style Patriotic Summer Front Porch

Patriotic Summer Front Porch

This is the first house that I have owned with a true front porch. I love to style it for the different seasons. The navy blue rockers give the house a down home country feel and look great paired with Americana decor. Our family looks forward to Memorial Day and July 4th celebrations every summer and I would like my home to reflect that.

First new pillows were purchased for the rocking chairs at Tuesday Morning. Their selection of outdoor pillows were all too brightly colored or too expensive for my small budget. Instead I purchased these adorable American flag pillows for $15 each. I loved the brass star button details!

I wanted them to hold up to the elements so I purchased Scotchguard Heavy Duty Water Shield from Amazon. It is supposed to protect outdoor furniture and fabrics. This is the first time I have used this product and so far so good. We had a bad rainstorm last night and the pillows repelled the water well.

Following the directions I coated both sides of each pillow letting them dry fully before flipping them over. I wore gloves so I did not get it on my skin and used plastic bags to protect the grass.

This cute little chalk painted table remains on our porch year round and I change up the decor seasonally. It was a flea market find from NJ and I painted it with Annie Sloan chalk paint in Provence. By shopping the house I was able to save some money! The sign was left over from last summer, the flags were a Hobby Lobby clearance find and everything else I already owned.

Besides the pillows the only other thing I purchased was flowers. Costco had the lavender topiary for $20! I had to drive to two stores to find it but it was worth the hunt.

The fern was from Lowe’s and just screamed Southern front porch to me! My husband was not thrilled when he saw it as we have a whole woods full of ferns in our backyard… I could have dug some up for free. Oops!

On the front door I hung up my patriotic heart I found at Christmas Tree Shops last summer. I love that store for seasonal goodies.

I am in love with the way our front porch turned out and I can’t wait to spend time on it all summer sittin’ and sippin’.

I love your porch. The little vignette on the table is sweet and has inspired me to do one too. I never knew there was a scotchgard for outdoor fabrics and I will be getting a can of that as well. Thanks!

I was so excited to find it on Pinterest! I had pillows out there this fall that molded and I was disappointed to have to throw them away. I feel like I will have so many more decorating options now since I can use regular pillows. I hope it works for you too!

  2. This turned out so great Tracy !!😍😍😍

Love this! You’ve gotten me in the mood for summer! I need to get out there and wash my rocking chairs.

  4. You have decorated your font porch so beautifully. It is charming. Love your hint about the scotchguard. Your pillows are amazing especially the star buttons. Wow!

  5. I am loving the Americana theme you did, it looks wonderful.

  6. Ummm… those flag pillows are the cutest ever! I really want to hear how they hold up with the Scotchgard because I’d love to add more pillows outside, but I never feel like the “outdoor pillows” have as much selection. By the way, I envy your front porch… My dream is to have a wrap-around porch some day, but for now I have a raised concrete slab 🙂

I will! Yes I am always disappointed in the outdoor pillow selection too. I was so happy when I found the spray on Pinterest.

  7. Love your wooden star! I have one of those topiaries from Costco too! Love it! Hoping I can keep it alive to enjoy it for years to come! Fingers crossed!! Enjoy your porch! It looks lovely!! 🙂

  8. Very cute!! I wish I had a front porch too!

Patriotic is always good! But it also carries thru from Memorial Day until Labor Day.
Get you through several month while you enjoy the garden and sip a cool drink.
    Thanks for sharing!
