Boys Farmhouse Bedroom Makeover $100 Room Challenge Week 1

I am so excited to be participating in a new series by Erin at Lemons, Lavender, and Laundry called the $100 Room Challenge. For this month I have chosen to give my two younger boy’s shared bedroom an update.

100march

As most of you know I love to decorate on a budget. $100 is not much to work with but I am determined to stick to it! I will be reusing items from other rooms, cashing in some gift cards and working with products that I already own to save money. A running total of money spent will be posted to keep myself accountable.

I have several goals I would like to accomplish during the challenge:

  1. Add seating
  2. Change out the bedding for something easier to manage. Bunk beds are hard for kids to make themselves!
  3. Update the artwork
  4. Book storage
  5. Add character with a wood feature wall

Their bedroom has some good bones to begin with but I feel like it needs more. It’s the smallest room in the house and functionality is a priority. The boys have been asking when they can get a “fancy” wall since we added the wood ceiling to our master bedroom and the shiplap to our powder room (posts can be found on the home tour tab). Luckily we have leftover wood from those two projects to work with!

This is the reason I have never shared their bedroom. As of now it’s nothing special. The before photos:

  1. I am SO glad you are joining the challenge!!! Your boys’ dresser look like a dream compared to my youngest. He literally has a PILE of stuff (Mainly McDonald’s happy meal toys). Can’t wait to see the wall feature and see how this room turns out.
