It’s almost time for Halloween! I love seeing all of the little kids dressed up in their costumes out having a great time trick or treating. My kids have been counting down the days! This year my five year old asked if he could help decorate our home for Halloween so I said sure. Why not?

Outside did not see many changes. I hung up this fun mesh wreath I bought at Michael’s last year but kept everything else the same harvest style decor. We recently added this red tea cart that I found at an estate sale. The color goes well with the blue rocking chairs and fits in perfectly with my fall decor.

Next we moved in to the dining room. You may notice a big change in here! I found this awesome hutch on a Facebook yard sale site. Originally I purchased it to refinish for my vendor booth. When I was done with it I started thinking “You know. This would look great in my dining room.” I seem to be doing alot of that lately…. Anyway, it stayed. For now at least. The hutch started off  dark brown but after 3 coats of Amy Howard At Home One Step Paint in Ballet White it’s looking much better! I also swapped out the hardware for these farmhouse style bin pulls and knobs. They give the hutch a less formal country feel.

Yes I know the foam grave stone is super tacky but when your five your old says it’s perfect there you leave it…

My tobacco basket was taken over by the big spider I used on my fireplace last year and this fun little sign I scored at Goodwill.

On the table we used a glitter spider web pattern table runner, some country style beads, a banner from Target and this creepy dude. The skeleton is animated and has a microphone. He repeats everything you say in a high pitched voice. My children don’t seem to understand the concept that you can speak to the skeleton in a normal volume. Some days I regret buying him as they scream into the microphone!

For place settings I used our every day white dishes mixed in with black and white striped tea towels from Target, a fun faux pumpkin and my Halloween Rae Dunn mugs. The kids love using all of the different patterns!

Last but not least is the kitchen. Did you notice my awesome new mint scale? It was another failed booth purchase… The scale got dressed up with a cute fabric plaid pumpkin I found at this shop and a faux crow from Target.

I also decorated my coffee station with my Halloween Rae Dunn collection and a fun sign. Drink up Witches! We all need our magic potion to make it through the day with the kids!
