Touch of Fall Home Tour Blog Hop

Touch of Fall Home Tour Jersey Girl in the South blog

I have teamed up with some amazing blogger friends for the Touch of Fall Home Tour blog hop. Each one of these ladies is very talented and has a unique style. Please be sure to visit everyone and show them some love. If you are visiting from Farmhouse on Elder Hill  I am so happy that you stopped by! Her home is stunning, isn’t it? Pour yourself a cup of coffee and let’s get inspired for fall decorating!

Welcome to our home! Today I am sharing with you our dining room, family room and porch where I have added fall touches. This is my favorite season! I love everything about fall!

Let’s start with the dining room. Our table was kept simple as we use it every night for dinner. I couldn’t help myself from buying those adorable little dishes and faux pumpkins from Target! While I did purchase mainly neutral colors I could not help myself from buying some traditional orange pumpkins as well.

Through Pinterest I found this adorable free printable from Anderson and Grant. I paired it with a Harvest banner from One Tiny Heart.

Now let’s visit the family room. I stayed with warm tones like copper and lots of natural elements like antlers, pinecones and branches. This bundle of wheat just says fall to me!

I got a little carried away at Target this year. The bargain spot just had so many beautiful things and I could not resist! I’m going to have to hide my Red Card! All of my finds could make for a good game of I Spy though!

I filled my crock with some chippy spindles and antlers. Originally the spindles were part of a group I had purchased for my booth but I decided to keep two for myself…

Now come on outside. We love having a front porch and sit out here often. Outdoor pillows paired with a plaid throw they make for a very cozy space.

It’s so much fun changing the decor with the seasons. I found these heirloom pumpkins at the grocery store of all places! My mums are nestled in apple bushel baskets which were an estate sale find.

DIY Singer Sewing Table Makeover using Amy Howard at Home One Step Paint and Cerusing Wax

DIY Sewing Table Makeover using Amy Howard at Home One Step Paint and Cerusing Wax

This post contains affiliate links for your convenience.

Hi friends! I’ve been painting like crazy lately and feeling burnt out! I really wanted to get this sewing table makeover completed so I pushed myself and got it finished. While I loved the sewing table before I feel like she really shines now! The results were amazing!!!

We found this Singer sewing machine while out picking to find stock for my vendor booth. I fell in love and just couldn’t let it go. I seem to be having this problem a lot lately… With a little bit of paint and a lot of elbow grease I knew I could turn her (yes I know it’s furniture and not a person) into a beauty.

When I was cleaning it out we found some cool stuff in the drawers. My husband loves finding secret hidden things.

The sewing table was filthy and I’m glad I decided to try out Clean Slate by Amy Howard at Home. It was my first time using this product and I’m impressed. Just look at all of the dirt and grease that I was able to remove! Clean Slate has a strong odor so I would recommend using it outdoors if possible. The weather has been so hot lately so I chose to do my project indoors.  Instead I opened the windows and my sliding glass doors while running a fan for adequate ventilation. Luckily the odor did not stick around after it dried.

I wanted this piece to have some color but still remain neutral. The paint I went with was Amy Howard at Home One Step Paint in Bergere Blue and finished it with Cerusing Wax. Bergere Blue is a very pale gray/blue.

It took two coats to achieve the look I was going for. Afterwards I distressed the sewing table with medium grit sand paper and wiped it down with a tack cloth.

Using a cloth napkin I applied the Cerusing Wax in a circular motion per the instructions. Once it dried for an hour I went back and buffed it with the cloth.

IMG_4710

I found the Cerusing Wax much easier to use than traditional wax. The consistency is like toothpaste and for me it is more manageable to apply. Once it dries it turns into a satin finish. Cerusing Wax goes far as it only took 3 applications around the size of a quarter to finish the entire top of the sewing table. My bottle has plenty left for other projects!

I will definitely be using Bergere Blue again and am planning to switch to Cerusing Wax for all of my projects.

I am in love with the results! What do you think?

Vendor Booth Tour by Jersey Girl In The South

the city

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you have probably heard me talk about my upcoming vendor booth. I am so excited to be a part of a new store opening in Powhatan, VA called Vintage Antique Shack. While my goal is to make some extra fun money by selling farmhouse style goods I know I will be spending plenty in the store! What a talented group of people! The store is almost completed and ready to open this week. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday September 20th and the Grand Opening Event will be held on Saturday September 23rd. You will not want to miss it! Door prizes and snacks (the best part!) will be available!

IMG_4558

When you first enter the store I am on the right hand side next to the main entrance. These pictures were taken before my neighboring booth moved in.

IMG_4564

Facing my booth you will find vintage kitchen items and some chippy spindles. I had purchased four but I kept two for myself! That’s how this works. One for me, one for the shop!

IMG_4562

On the right hand side is a sewing machine table with some wall decor. I am in love with the washboards and they were hard to part with!

IMG_4561

Behind that is a secretary desk filled with some cute throw pillows and other treasures. The mason jars are the large half gallon size!

IMG_4563

Next to that is a sofa table, rush seat bench and other goodies! Make sure to pick up a business card. I will be sharing sales and new inventory on both my Instagram and Facebook pages.

IMG_4560

At the end is a vintage sewing machine table and the chair you may have seen in my preview posts. The original Kenmore sewing machine is still inside and powers up.

IMG_4559

I temporarily have some more items in the back room so be sure to stop back there too!

I hope you enjoyed the preview of my booth! It will be changing often so be sure to check in with me from time to time!
